Multiplier damage zones, crit damage & expected DPS
In many RPG and gacha games, damage is calculated by multiplying several independent "zones" together. Each zone contains additive bonuses that stack within the zone, but different zones multiply each other. This multiplicative stacking is why balancing stats across different zones is more effective than stacking a single stat.

The 1:2 ratio (crit rate : crit damage) is a general guideline for optimal crit stat distribution. For example, 50% crit rate with 100% crit damage, or 60% CR with 120% CD. This ratio maximizes expected damage when crit rate and crit damage have equal stat value. However, the optimal ratio shifts based on your specific stats and available gear.
Bonuses within the same zone add together (additive). For example, two 20% ATK bonuses give 40% total ATK bonus. But bonuses in different zones multiply each other. This is why having balanced stats across multiple zones is more powerful than stacking one stat 鈥?multiplication grows faster than addition.
Resistance (RES) reduces incoming damage of a specific type. The formula varies by game, but generally: RES below 0% increases damage (negative resistance = damage amplification). RES between 0-75% reduces damage linearly. RES above 75% has diminishing returns. Resistance shred (reducing enemy RES) is very powerful against high-RES enemies.
It depends on the situation. For consistent, sustained damage over time, expected damage (average per hit) is more important. For burst damage or one-shot potential, crit damage matters more. In most cases, you want to maximize expected damage while having a reasonable crit rate (at least 50-60%) to avoid frustrating non-crits.
